Greetings from the land of the Midnight Sun. Our days are nice and long now—with close to 19 hours of daylight. Our temperatures are (oh so slowly) warming up into the mid 50s. The snow is melting (again, oh so slowly) and I think it is safe to say summer is coming. We have just experienced one of the coldest springs on record, and are ready for WARM temperatures.
We are looking forward to summer staff arriving in the next two weeks. As program director, Collin will have more responsibilities and is looking forward to this new role. Staff training begins June 2nd-June 8th; please be in prayer for unity in the summer staff, effectiveness in equipping the summer staff, and for the campers who will be attending Camp Li-Wa this summer. Pray for God’s will to be done in and through the summer staff and full-time staff as summer camp quickly approaches. Camp Li-Wa is still in need of guy counselors, who are 18 years or older. If you know of anyone who may be interested, please inform them of our needs.
This weekend, we kick off summer with our Family Work Retreat. This retreat allows for families to come to Li-Wa for the weekend and help prepare the camp grounds for the upcoming summer. Not only will families be working, but they will also be able to participate in fun activities and enjoy time together as a family.
Last month, Collin attended the Orange Conference in Atlanta with some of University Baptist’s staff. He was able to get some much-needed refreshment for the upcoming busy months. He also had the opportunity to visit his family before the conference. Sam’s mom came up to Fairbanks to spend time with her and Savannah while Collin was gone. It was nice to have some girl time!
Praise: We recently received a generous donation that was close to the amount we needed for some medical bills (three doctor visits) that we had received. It is a blessing to us to see how God provides, even before we see what’s ahead. We had received that money a day or so before we even had those unexpected visits.
Prayer: At the end of June, we will have the option to move into another house here on Camp Li-Wa’s property. This home would be more suitable for a family with children, as it provides more space. However, moving into a slightly bigger house means more expenses. In order to be able to make this move, we need to increase our support by $400/month. Would you be willing to jump onboard in supporting our ministry financially and prayerfully? If so, please contact us and we will send you the information you need!
We want to thank you all for your continued prayers and ongoing support as we continue ministry here in Alaska. God is continuing to remind us that He alone is in control. We hope and pray that you all are doing well!
Trusting the LORD, seeking His will, and following His path,
Collin, Samantha, and Savannah
